I've actually been very healthy overall since I've turned 60. The heart issue 9 years ago (at 58) was a known birth defect first detected when I was 15 years old, and really isn't an ongoing issue (yes, at some point I'll need a replacement artificial valve, but they can do that now in less than an hour without cracking the chest using TAVR).
I think during my last 10 years of work, other than the heart recovery, I might have "legitimately" used 5 days of sick leave. Other days I might have taken off due to an "eye problem"...as in, "I can't see myself working today".
I look at this as a fluke; bad luck and stupidity on my own part for not following up after the dental work. But it does absolutely re-enforce my entire retirement strategy; screw any thoughts of part-time or consulting work...enjoy the time...travel, travel, and then travel some more.
