We can’t continue to run deficits like we have been.

I still call myself a fiscal conservative but unlike many, I don’t believe that we can balance our budget by simply cutting govt. Taxes need to be raised as well.

Interest payments now exceeds defense spending and it’s only getting worse with our continued deficit spending and rising interest rates. Interest payments are only topped by Medicare and Soc Sec in our budget.

I think that it has gotten so bad that we will need inflation to help dig us out of the hole we’ve dug ourselves into.

Maybe fiscal realist or fiscal responsible is a better term for me. 🤷

Those are ancillary to your argument that the Senate and then Trump would never sign the bill. I agreed with that but still felt the House vote was important to move the needle. It did more than that. It blew the issue wide open.

Our political institutions in this case are still working in that public outcry won the day.

The Ukraine winds are also shifting, slowly, but shifting. The tariff reversals. Housing / food costs are hitting home for even the most die hard MAGA, and trying to blame Biden while saying its not happening is wearing thin.

It would seem that the effectiveness of his normal go-to strategies are beginning to erode.
