The Google return for fiscal conservative is as follows:
“fiscal conservative is someone who advocates for fiscal responsibility, limited government spending, and low taxes, prioritizing balanced budgets and a reduction in national debt
. This economic philosophy is rooted in principles of capitalism and laissez-faire economics.”
This doesn’t jive with modern America, or America of my lifetime.
I was born before Dark Side of The Moon but after Woodstock. I suspect I’m right in the middle of age demographic of our little community (shrinking community it seems).
When has this fiscal conservative definition ever jived with life in America? What Conservative (Republican) admin has adhered to this definition or approach to fiscal policy? And frankly we have decades worth of evidence that it’s really isn’t an effective approach that meshes well with true governance and leadership.
The reality is “fiscal conservative” has evolved into a retreat for those that want to oppose left/democratic policies and ideology but protect the individual fiscal conservative from being tied to any support of the unethical (often grossly immoral) and often corrupt tactics and practices of the Republicans. Where is the controlled spending? Where is the lowering of the debt? Where is the balanced budget?
IOW, it’s a bullshit cop out to describe one’s political stand.
